There are serious impacts results from the presence of such substances on the marine/water life, main source might be from the Pharmaceuticals industries, health care centers or even household. the problem that such materials might not be treated/removed totally through conventional wastewater treatment plants, additionally such materials might be accumulated in the food chain and affect the human health. Do any one know if drinking water standards include such parameters? i really not sure as i was seeking for this but was not able to find

Thanks Don for your comments, in this case, and as these materials will Hazard the health of human being and other living organisms, scientist and related agencies must give high attention to these matters,  so water and food are become not safe for consumption , if we really think in the right way

there are no standards as they choose not address the problem .If they recognize   the  problem then they will force to solve it..which would cost money...I have had first hand knowledge of this concerning toxic mercury

its a well-known fact  wastewater treatment plants do not remove pathogens such as HIV they refuse to install systems which can remove these deadly viruses  due to the so-called costs
